Mute the world. Build your own world.

David Senra on James Cameron

Other people’s opinions, news and trends are noise when you’re making something new. Cameron shut that out and built what he saw in his head, at full scale.

How we sourced these

A maxim is listed only if it appears in the show notes of at least one Founders episode, taken from the podcast’s public RSS feed. The episode chips on each card are the episodes whose notes carry the line, or a close variant of it (for example "companies" for "businesses"). We checked every match by hand. Sponsor copy is removed before counting.

The count is a floor. Senra says many of these on air far more often than the notes record. When our short form is worded differently from the notes, the card is marked paraphrase. The explanations are ours, not quotes. A few lines also come up in long interviews with Senra; those are linked on the maxim’s own page.
